I originally stumbled upon the work of Cal Newport and some of his (counter-pop-cultural) ideas on passion. But what he’s actually most known for is his work on helping kids succeed in college. Having a teen getting ready for high school, I became interested in that side of his work (and continue to follow his discussions on passion).
As I read How to Be a High School Superstar: A Revolutionary Plan to Get into College by Standing Out (Without Burning Out), I learned some of his recommended study techniques (which, btw, my daughter has found to be really helpful).
Long story short, the idea of “you don’t really know something until you can teach it” became very apparent.
Because I love to learn, I thought I’d give the “teach it” part a few pages. Hope you find something useful.
